Vancouver Crime Analysis
The following data analysis was performed using Python’s Jupyter Notebook. It’s data is from www.kaggle.com.

The Seasonality of Crime:




Crime shows strong seasonality; dropping in the winter and rising in the Spring and Summer.
Top Types of Crime:



Theft from vehicles is the top crime committed, then other thefts and mischief.
Top Ten Neighbourhoods for Crime:



The Central Business District holds majority of the crime in Vancouver.
Total Crime by Hour:



The majority of crimes occur within the hour of 12 AM.

Summary:
Using Python, a basic data analysis was conducted of crime rates in Vancouver, Canada.
The findings indicate that crime is seasonal (peaking in the Spring and Summer months).
The top crime committed is theft from vehicles. The Central Business District has the
highest crime rates of any other neighbourhood in the city. Of these crimes, majority of
them occur between 12 AM and 1 AM.
In Python, we learned how to bring in files, format dates and use pivot tables to summarize data.
We also learned to use charts to visualize data and extracted insights.
